Art Escapes

When I was little I had many different hobbies that let me escape to another world. Now I only have about three that alternate between because I cannot decide which one makes me happier. When there was family troubles or issues of any kind I would either draw to my hearts content, read books, or just listen to music. As I said, I alternated between them, but what always stood out since I was young was my art. I would always go over to my grandmothers house to practice drawing anime or cartoons when my parents would argue or I got grounded from a bad grade. I have always kept my art with me and probably always will. My art holds memories of my escape through funny designs and fictional characters. Art has literally made me who I am today, and that is something I will never forget. When things got rough or I was feeling anti-social, my art was my best friend.

When I was a child it felt like I had a lot more issues. Now that I have grown I have realized that as a child, I did not understand much. The things my parents did was for me, not to hurt me. When a parent yells at their child, or grounds them, it is because they are trying to teach you an important lesson. As a child these things just seem mean, so when my parents fought or when tragic things happened (such as when my grandmother and uncle passed away) I stayed in my room drawing. I came out to go to school, but that was one of the only things that could lure me from my hiding place. I just felt so broken after the tragedy, I had to escape. I would watch shows then redraw what I had seen. Eventually, I started changing the drawings a little to fit my style. It's rewarding seeing the results of hours upon hours of pouring my emotion into a piece of paper, and seeing how events in my life turn into pieces of art that I can call mine.

Even though I have lost people and pets throughout the years I know they will always be with me through my art. Though I know this, and it is the main inspiration for my art, it does not keep me from stumbling into creative blocks. When I am in a creative mode, though, I do not have to tell anyone how I feel. They can look at my drawings and know. It guides me through the difficult steps in life. Different people react to problems in their own ways. Some solve their issues with bad decisions, others find constructive solutions; it depends on circumstance and will power. I like to challenge myself, but some of these hardships prove to be a little too much. Sometimes hobbies alone do not help, so I turn to my family and friends. We, as humans, have many different ways to cope with the things we do not want to deal with. I choose art as a way to handle the fears and stresses I have because I know that I can escape to my world and not be judged or disturbed. I use art to build my confidence. Without art, I would not know what to do.

My Memories of Six Flags Astroworld

Before, my family would have never thought to go to the Amusement park named Six Flags Astroworld, but one day it suddenly just changed. I really was not sure what changed it could have been my brother and I just wanting somewhere new to go or maybe it was my parents seeing a commercial and thought it would be fun to make it a family trip. This began when I was around the age of seven or eight when we started to do our yearly trip to Six Flags. I really was not sure how fun this would be because even though I loved to try new things I also was scared but excited to do something new. At first this began with just my family of four, but then when we slowly got older me and my brother each got to bring a friend for more entertainment. I heard and saw so much from the advertisements of all of these thrilling huge roller-coasters; I kept hearing all the screams and this sounded like I might like it but I also might not because why would you be screaming for the fun of it? I remember the first time I went to Six Flags I was barely tall enough for most of the enormous roller-coasters but one of my best friends changed my mind on the green roller-coaster called the Viper. This roller-coaster was tall, it consist of a tunnel that brought us down low that lead us with great speed to a loop and a whole bunch of twist and turns that would thrill us. One thing about this roller-coaster was that when we went on the loop right as we were at the top upside down I opened my eyes to see for a split second the tiny people that looked like ants. Once the ride was over, me and my friend ran to my parents in excitement because from that moment forward the adrenaline of riding my first roller-coaster had left nothing of me that was scared, all I could say was "lets do that again!" with a smile on my face. Ever since my mom tells me when we are going I pick a friend and we are off on that specific date but the thing was was I was so excited because that adrenaline had seeped into me and never went away. This meant that the night before each time I would not be able to sleep for the thrill was just too much the next day.We went there for a couple of years but things kept changing each year such as one year my mom had to get a surgery in her neck that caused her to never be able to ride a roller-coaster again that is too rough on her neck, So each time me, my dad, brother and our two friends would look for a sign to see if she could but mostly they were all too rough so our rides had become not whole anymore once that happened. Even though this had happened we still went through our trips because it was not going to let us down it just would always feel different every time we went on a new roller-coaster. Even though we thought that would be the end of the bad news one day I watched the TV and it just so happened that the news was on. I read the headlines which devastated me because it said Astroworld closing down to become a parking lot. I told my mom and dad which made us go one last time before our family trips to Astroworld would end. Our family trips to Astroworld had ended so fast but those memories will never go away.
This memory stood out to me because it was one of the first times we went and made a family trip into a yearly thing, of course since then we have made other trips a yearly thing now. The thrill of that first time on a roller-coaster just changed my life into part of what I am now. I still get that thrill inside of me every now and then but it will never be the exact same I had from Astroworld even Six Flags Fiesta Texas just is not the same.
Perceptions of memories do change a lot over time but I feel that mine never did because it was a important and fun time for me, it also reminds me of my old friends that have grown apart. Even so all these memories will always stay as I see them and that is how it happened.
